Death Note How to Read 13

The 13th Death Note, an official analysis manual. The last "piece" that will discover all of the mystery.

There will be a normal edition and special edition for the first edition, which includes gorgeous items. It will be released on Friday, October 13!! Normal edition is 680 yen ($6.80), special edition is 3500 yen ($35.00). You will need to make a reservation to buy the special edition.

Reserve the special edition before August 3 online.
If you are to order through your bookstore, reserve it by July 25.
ISBN for normal edition: 4-08-874095-5
ISBN for special edition: 4-08-908053-3
It's probably still early to order. Amazon.co.jp doesn't carry it, and [info]evilgamerx's local Kino doesn't accept reservations yet. I'll do another announcement when it becomes available, so stay tuned ^^b

1. True Name Card -L-
A special card that tells you L's real name. It's an original illustration by Obata Takeshi.

2. One Shot "Death Note"
A prototype one shot that was released in Jump prior to Death Note serialization. It also includes 4 koma manga that weren't included in usual Jump Comics.

3. Death Note Reversible Cover
Front contains Obata Takeshi's original art, back side contains Death Note!

4. Super long interview of Obata and Ohba
The truth of Death Note that both of them disclose! It also includes commentary on all the subtitles and other secret story behind character settings.

5. People, incidents, ... Investigate on all the mysteries of the story
Profiling the main characters. Clearly explaining Kira incidents according to the time!

6. Other data
A list of L's sweets/snacks. Not related to the story, but important for Death Note!


If you reserve the special edition, you'll get the following:
Item 1: Kira incident simulate puppets. A set of 5.
Item 2: Obata Takeshi original art box, which can hold 12 Death Note tankos. (Tankos are not included.)

Man, I want that so badly. I'm such a sucker for new artwork of Mello and Near, and it looks like we're going to be getting lots of new information. *_* Thanks for posting this--I wasn't sure what the page was advertising until now.

Would love to have it but it's rather impossible :/
Hope someone nice will tell me L's name... I've already read the one-shot so I'm not all that disappointed ^^' Still, I wish I could get hold of the interview.

L's real name...! This is a surprise~
I was satisfied without knowing it, but for it to be revealed after the end like this feels like it's a nice extra treat.

I look forward to discovering his Engrish-y name~ (someone should make a "guess L's first name" contest before this comes out, haha)

I wish i wasnt broke TT^TT I hope english websites will carry it...

I'm going to as a potentially stupid question, because I'm a total n00b at buying stuff like this.
Where/how might one be able to buy the special edition without knowledge of the japanese language?

It's semi-easy to do through the Amazon.co.jp website, if you have the ISBN or another way to look the book up, and a reasonable knowledge of how Amazon.com's websites are set up. :)

You go to the Amazon page for it, then click 'Display in English' on the far right. It won't help with the majority of the text, but the buttons turn into English, and the pages where you do the actual buying will be in English.

Damn, that sounds so cool. If it comes to the states I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Special Edition and all. I'd be able to play with the puppets still! But it'd break my heart to have all that info and not be able to read it.

I want it badly, but .... I can't read japanese well. What the hell that I can do with the book. Try to learn more japanese or sit back and stare at the book bluntly ?
